This careers service is part of your International Foundation Year at Lancaster University. We’ll help you to plan for the future, increase your employability, and develop the skills you need for a successful career.
CareerAhead gives you an advantage in the graduate careers market by helping you to become a confident, skilled and employable graduate. With CareerAhead you will develop valuable employability skills to help you stand out and continue building goals.
Your Personal Career Development Plan sets out the goals you need to achieve career success. To achieve your goals, you’ll receive one-to-one support and small group training sessions that focus on things like career choices and employability skills.
You will complete a skills questionnaire, similar to the ones used by graduate employers. We will use these results to start creating your Personal Career Development Plan.
Throughout your International Foundation Year, we will work with you in small groups and on a one-to-one basis to develop your career skills.
When you progress to your degree at Lancaster you will continue to develop the goals in your Personal Career Development Plan. You can also use the University’s excellent career services and events, including gaining experience with Lancaster’s award-winning work experience and placement programme and career planning and employability workshops to help you gain confidence and new skills.
