Lancaster University features in 9th in the Guardian University Guide 2019, maintaining its status as a triple top ten university in the UK. Already a prestigious ranking, the position becomes even more impressive this year with the knowledge the Guardian have changed their methodology for ranking universities.
The Guardian University Guide aims to be a more student focused league table, with less focus on research and more attention to the student experience. Universities are now ranked on areas such as course satisfaction, teaching quality, student feedback and graduate employability.
The table also looks at individual subjects offered at each university, with 12 subjects at Lancaster ranking in the top ten – including the number one spot in the country for Social Work. Lancaster’s top ten subjects include:
- Art (10th)
- Business, Management and Marketing (8th)
- Criminology (8th)
- Engineering: Chemical (8th)
- Engineering: Mechanical (10th)
- Geography and Environmental Studies (6th)
- History (7th)
- Mathematics (5th)
- Media and Film Studies (9th)
- Physics (7th)
- Religious Studies and Theology (5th)
- Social Work (1st)
This latest success comes after the University’s achievements in the other major UK league tables: The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide and The Complete University Guide.
